Valentine’s Day 2

The low key v-day night went well. I made a chai panna cotta (the night before) which I accompanied with fresh strawberries and homemade pecan flavored whipped cream. Yum! We skipped the movie and went for a late night walk in the refreshing 40 degree weather. It was so simple. So nice. But it’s not over yet!
Round 2: Cheap Date Night at the Red Stag Supper Club. I have been wanting to do cheap date night here some time now. This upscale Minnesota lodge style restaurant offers, for the low low price of $32 per couple, a bottle of wine, 2 entrees, and a dessert to share, every Tuesday night!
The Red Stag opened on November 19th, 2007 as the first LEED-CI registered restaurant project in Minnesota. It is a fact that restaurants use more energy and water than any other small business, costing them 30-40% of their entire operating budget. Through using new technologies in the build out of the Stag, water use was cut by approximately 70%, and energy use cut almost in half. For instance, the Red Stag is the first facility in the country entirely lit by LED lights, which use 90% less electricity than incandescent bulbs. Eureka! Recycling assists them with composting their waste. The restaurant strives to be a good local and world citizen by serving local and organic foods as much as possible, conserving resources & composting waste, and by always being on the lookout as to how to better its business practices. All of this is something to feel good about.
And if the environmentally friendly practices and $32 price tag aren’t enough to get you in the door- they serve smelt fries! Yep, delicious, deep fried, grownup fish sticks. It’s going to be a great cheap date night.
