Honeysuckle 1821-20

December 9, 2010 § 1 Comment

Pantone has announced it’s color of the year for 2011: Honeysuckle 1821-20. Pantone refers to this as the “Color for All Seasons. Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It’s a color for every day – with nothing ‘everyday’ about it.”

I for one really enjoy this color. There is something to be said about picking the right shade of pink, not just for your coloring, but for your image. The wrong pink will make you too punk, too baby, too prissy, too barbie, too overwhelming. This is nice. Get your honeysuckle paint, dress, and visa card here, here, and here.

A bit more about Pantone below…

Pantone is the world-renowned authority on color. For more than 45 years, Pantone has been inspiring design professionals with products, services and leading technology for the colorful exploration and expression of creativity.

In 1963, Lawrence Herbert, Pantone’s founder, created an innovative system for identifying, matching and communicating colors to solve the problems associated with producing accurate color matches in the graphic arts community. His insight that the spectrum is seen and interpreted differently by each individual led to the innovation of the PANTONE® MATCHING SYSTEM®, a book of standardized color in fan format.

Pantone has since expanded its color matching system concept to other color-critical industries, including digital technology, fashion, home, plastics, architecture and contract interiors, and paint. Today, the PANTONE Name is known worldwide as the standard language for accurate color communication, from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer, across a variety of industries. Pantone continues to develop color communication and inspirational tools, and aggressively adopts new digital technology to address the color needs of the creative community everywhere.

I love my Pantone mug. It looks beautiful with coffee in it. It’s orange and cheerful and every time I use it I find myself wanting one in every color. But the love doesn’t stop there, have you seen these chairs!? Buy them here.

What Color Should I Paint My House Barge?

February 24, 2010 § Leave a comment

Nancy, an Apartment Therapy reader posed this question: What color should I paint my house barge? (click on the link to submit input)

House?  Barge?  Paint?

Ahh, how great is that? I like to imagine what kind of life I would be living in order for me to ask that same question. Some people will never set foot in an ocean, let alone own a house barge. It’s all a question of life styles, interests, and priorities. While I am glorifying the idea of painting a house barge, someone else maybe so asking him or herself what extreme sport they should start. What type of cat suits their personality. What level of SPF they should be wearing. Oh, the places we go.

Where Am I?
