I Couldn’t Help But Smile…

June 7, 2011 § Leave a comment

I was scrolling through old Sartorialist posts today and came across this one titled: “I Don’t Know What They’re Saying But I Love To Watch Them Talk, Florence.” Agreed. Their faces show so much intrigue and their hands do so much talking- I couldn’t help but smile. I hope they’re talking about the weather! :0)

Wedding Dresses With Sleeves?

April 29, 2011 § Leave a comment

I typically don’t weigh in bridal matters. To be honest, I don’t give it any thought at this point in my life. But with the Royal wedding photos wallpapering the internet, I’ve started thinking about wedding dresses with sleeves. Conservative? Seasonal? Coming back? I just don’t know…

The No Pants Movement, A Reoccurring Trend

April 11, 2011 § Leave a comment

Are you flummoxed by all of the pantless celebrities lately? Me too. One of my favorite sites when I’m craving some witty prose is Go Fug Yourself, which now has a section called “Look Into Pants.” It gave me a good laugh this evening. But my research, which I will admit is lacking some depth, allows me to conclude that this is actually a reoccurring trend. You know how the 70’s are coming back? Well apparently so is the 1950’s no-pants movement (on bicycles), see images below.

5 Years of GO

February 17, 2011 § Leave a comment

We’ve been down this road before. I whine and impatiently wait every time Target introduces another celebrity line. It’s part of the struggle that comes from being a baller on a budget.

That being said, I am excited to share with you the following: Target is celebrating their five-year anniversary of its fashion-forward, affordably-priced GO International program with a collection that features 34 dresses from 17 past GO International designers. Ranging in price from $24.99 to $44.99, the GO International Designer Collective will be available March 13 through April 10, 2011 at most Target stores.

Featuring dresses from Luella Bartley, Tara Jarmon, Paul & Joe, Behnaz Sarafpour, Proenza Schouler, Libertine, Alice Temperley, Erin Fetherston, Jovovich-Hawk, Rogan, Richard Chai, Jonathan Saunders, Thakoon, Tracy Feith, Rodarte, Zac Posen and Tucker.

Mixing Patterns

November 10, 2010 § Leave a comment

I really want to mix and match patterns in my wardrobe, and luckily there are all of these nonsensical rules about pattern mixing in fashion magazines lately. Apparently it’s okay when they are of the same color but two different sizes? Or no, maybe thats not right… It’s okay if they are different colors but of the same size? I just watched Mean Girls the other night and agree with Lindsay, girl world is confusing!

Confusion aside, I’m inspired by the Tucker for Target ads but think something more subtle like the images from The Sartorialist below would be more approachable for me. I just don’t want to catch a glimpse of my reflection in some public window and realize I look like the understudy for Ugly Betty. There seems to be a fine line here.

Santa; He’s Sporty, Chic And Always With His Bike

June 7, 2010 § Leave a comment

So I was scrolling along the the Sartorialist‘s blog today, which I always try to avoid because it makes me want a new wardrobe, and I found this picture. A couple of thoughts… first, I have always wanted to make a coffee table book called Sightings of Santa because joyous, white bearded men really do warm my heart. The problem is, I never have a camera handy when Santa decides to show his face.  Second, I would like to own a pair of leather moccasins… or penny loafers similar to this guys. And third this bike is fantastic.

And in defense of my Santa comparison, which is obviously a compliment, this guy would be the coolest and fittest Santa I’ve ever seen.

Tucker For Target This Summer

Geeez, it’s like pulling teeth to get the launch date for Target’s Go International collection Tucker by Gaby Basora. I’ve read press releases, tweets, and blog posts with no luck. Do you know the date?

Turban Tuesday?

April 13, 2010 § 2 Comments

Dear fashion fiends,

I am a little skiddish about head wear. How do I casually work a turban into my everyday look?

Yours truly,

Abby
