Ladies, Consider The Following

I recently attended a women focused workplace seminar with keynote speak Gail Evens. Gail Evens is the former CNN Executive VP, an expert in diversity related journalism and a best-selling author. The woman’s impressive and came with a request. To paraphrase, it went something like…
The next time you are shopping around for someone to provide you with a service, whether it’s a lawyer or photographer or dentist, make sure when pooling applicants that one of them is a woman. You do not need to give a woman your business. That’s not the message. Hell if you want the best possible wedding pictures and that photographer happens to be a man, by all means you hire him. What Mrs. Evens asks is that we keep women in mind. That by putting them in the running, whether they win or lose you as a client, we are exercising our ability to make women a consideration.
I love this idea. Lets do this! It takes little to no extra effort, and can potentially add diversity to what may otherwise be male dominated industries.
